A harp guitar is a guitar with extra strings that are played only with the plucking hand, and never fretted.
Decacorde
A ten-stringed harp guitar developed in the nineteenth century by Ferdinando Carulli and René Lacôte. It had from three to five unfretted bass strings, and from five to seven fretted strings, all with the same scale length and with the top five tuned as the upper five strings of a guitar.
Other ten-string harp guitars
Johann Kaspar Mertz played a ten-string harp guitar.
