Sitar

Tanpura

A drone-only version of the sitar, with four to seven strings and no frets. It is also sometimes known as the tambura but this name is also given to the tamburica, a three or four-coursed fretted lute from the Balkans, or to the tanbur, a family of lutes of which the tamburica is a member, or to a member of the lyre family from the Middle East.
