5 string banjo

Used in bluegrass with a resonator, old time with an open back. See 5 string banjo.

 

Long neck banjo

 

Pete Seeger's invention, adds an extra three frets to four of the strings of a 5-stringer. See long neck banjo.

 

Plectrum banjo

Tenor banjo

 

Four heavier strings, used in jazz. See four string guitar, resonator guitar and banjo.

 

Cello banjo

 

Used in banjo orchestras. Tuned like a cello:
