Tenor guitar can mean at least two different instruments.

In the context of different registers of six-string guitar, tenor guitar is the name generally given to the common or Spanish guitar tuned E-A-d-g-b-e', particularly the classical instrument with gut or nylon strings. For this six-string tenor guitar, see Guitar tunings.

In the context of steel-stringed guitars, tenor guitar normally means the four-stringed derivative of the tenor banjo, with a guitar body. For this four-string tenor guitar, always with steel strings and including archtop, resonator, electric and semi-acoustic versions, see four string guitars and banjos.
